About Us
Kamicho Yamorisha Co.,Ltd. ("Kamicho Yamorisha")
was established in June 2016 to take over the large restaurant on the 6th floor of Marukan Department Store, a landmark of Hanamaki City, that sadly closed in 2016. There were two goals: "to leave that restaurant as it is as much as possible," and "to turn the Kamicho area, where the Marukan Building is located, and the Kamicho shopping arcade in Hanamaki City into a town where Hanamaki's industry can flourish."
With the support from many citizens and fans, on February 20, 2017, we were able to revive the Marukan Building as the "Marukan Building Diner."
Thanks to your support, the Marukan Building Dining Room has been able to maintain the atmosphere of the Marukan Department Store era.
It has 560 seats and over 140 menu items and is used by over 300,000 customers annually.
In addition to the Marukan Building Dai Shokudo on the 6th floor, the Marukan Building operated by Kamicho Yamorisha also has:
- 2nd floor: The Hanamaki Toy Museum,
an experiential woodworking educational facility
where you can learn about the history and culture of Iwate and Hanamaki while playing.
- 1st floor: Dagashiya Zosan,
a small Japanese treats store that has been popular for many years at the west exit of Hanamaki Station.
- 1st floor: 1f (First Floor)※,
a store with a wide selection of souvenirs unique to Iwate and Hanamaki, as well as Marukan Building Daishokudo original goods that can only be purchased here.
- 1st basement floor: DPRTMENT SKATESHOP PARK (Department Skate Shop Park)※,
a DIY store built by skaters living in Hanamaki.
All of these stores are one of a kind and unique to Hanamaki. (※Operated by Kamicho Yamorisha)
In addition to Marukan Building,
- Iwate Hanamaki Daishokudo,
a restaurant on the 2nd floor of Iwate Prefecture's sole airport, Iwate Hanamaki Airport, with a full original menu in collaboration with Iwate's famous stores and local products.
- Ieraishan, a gyoza restaurant in Futaba-cho,Hanamaki City, which has been loved as Hanamaki's soul food since 1955.
We also operate the following:
In addition to operating stores, Kamicho Yamorisha is also working on "renovation urban development" by utilizing vacant storefronts and other unused real estate in the Kamicho area to support the opening and running of new businesses.
In addition to Marukan Building, we are also working with the government and private companies on public-private partnerships such as social spaces that utilize public infrastructure (roads, parks, promenades, etc.) to increase the value of the Kamicho area by increasing "livelihoods," "new businesses," "new residents," and "new relationships" throughout the population of the Kamicho area.
